Adios to ‘Broad Street’
BroadStreetBully.com started out way back when as a site dedicated to the Flyers and Flyers fighters, hence the name of the site.
Since its inception, Bully has grown to cover far more than just the Flyers. I have since dedicated the site to cover hockey throughout many leagues in many countries. We dig fights, yes. But there are plenty of good fights and checks in plenty of different places.
Truth be told, at this point, the name of the site hardly defines what the site provides to its subscribers. Much of this has to do with the Flyers being largely fucking pussies in recent years. That was the genesis of covering all of the NHL teams and expanding beyond the NHL. Hitchcock is a wimp and his teams eventually resemble that … I knew this 3 years ago.
Hey folks, I’ve loved the Flyers since I was a kid and still do and support them as a season-ticket holder. But I can’t have the Bully linked to the kind of hockey that is being played by the Flyers these days. The Bully is a place where tough hockey is celebrated and showcased. Sadly though we have to read the writing on the wall here in Flyer Nation: tough hockey appears to be fairly dead in Philly (25 fights this season: a franchise low by far). That being what it is, I’m leaving Broad Street for bigger and better digs.
So the name of the site is going to change over the summer because it has grown into more than just a fan site for one team. The new name will reflect the mission of the site: provide hard-hitting, irreverent and unique multimedia of ice hockey. All Hockey. All the time. That’s the Bully mentality and we will stay true to it regardless of what happens to the NHL. We will also concentrate more on vintage footage and classic fights beginning in the summer …. so don’t jump ship. Stick around and support the site.
The BroadStreetBully.com url will still point/redirect to the new site and administratively and operations-wise few things will change.
It’s just time that the name of the site represented our work better. We have covered all teams, all fights, all action for a number of years now and it’s time that we have a branded site to reflect that. We have outgrown the label of a Flyers fan site.
So, stay tuned for more on this as things progress. It’s going to be great …
