Change is philosophy … or extension of our old one …
ESPN made the 20 second sports clip a household item. Trouble is that 20 or 30 seconds really isn’t very good from an entertainment point of view.
When I started Bully, many folks said keep all clips 30 seconds in length or shorter. This was mostly because of bandwidth and all clips were free at that time. They weren’t as crisp and the footage many times was sketchy, but free is free. Even at that time I jacked up clips to close to a minute in length.
Now times have changed. ESPN is ESPN and Bully is Bully, so you are going to see longer clips from time to time and on those days, there will be fewer clips posted. But content wise, you’re still getting a solid dose and likely more than normal with longer clips.
There are great moments in hockey that cannot be condesned into 30 second clips. (Trying to stuff history into a 30 second clip is kinda like trying to stuff Star Jones into a bikini.) That’s why they are called moments. 30 seconds is not a moment.
Just like I’m sure my prom dates reported to their friends – longer is better.
