Been bothering me for weeks
OK, so opening night at the Flyers game they showed a 5 minute video collage of the last 40 years. I have it uploaded on the Bully today.
The thing that kills me — and I mentioned it at the game too — is that there is only about 25 seconds of the video dedicated to the entire 1990s. A decade in 30 seconds and only one clip of Eric Lindros. And that clip is 2 seconds.
OK, so he left the club on bad terms. Part of that fault is on the club too. But two seconds of video?
There were a lot of good years with Lindros in the orange and black. He was the most dominant player for years in the entire league. Oh yeah, and he built your new rink by putting people in the seats and selling your luxury boxes for you. He entertained the fans too. By reducing him to a 2-second clip, the organization has made itself look petty and well, just plain stupid and childish.
What, you you did not think the fans would notice? People here love the Lindros that we watched mature in the NHL. They paid collective millions to watch him. By not making him a better and more deserved part of the video, it makes you wonder if we are all back in high school again.
To me, it was spiteful. It was transaprent. And we should expect better behavior from alleged professionals.
But this is Philly.
