It Never Gets Better … More TV Woes

That clown or those clowns at the NHL who schedule games have struck again.

Take Saturday’s OT game, Sabres vs Senators … a playoff potential elimination game.

The NHL lost its national U.S. over-the-air TV audience when NBC dropped its coverage of the game to show the Preakness Stakes just before overtime.

The end of Ottawa’s victory was broadcast instead on Versus, the league’s main cable rightsholder that reaches far fewer homes than NBC, without any forwarding information for NBC viewers.

Would it have taken any brain cells to schedule this game at night, realizing a potential OT conflict with the second stage of the Triple Crown? CBC would have appreciated it and they actually pay for NHL rights.

This from the same folks who scheduled the NHL All Star Game to compete with American Idol.
