When I see hockey clips on YouTube, I have to wince. Same goes for other hockey sites with fights. With all the technology we have, people are producing some lousy clips. It is painful to watch slop … free or not.

A long time ago I decided if we were going to do all hockey content, we’d do it right. Clear and crisp video. Who has time to weed through garbage? Not me. There’s nothing worse than acting cheap or being cheap. Low quality clips scream: “I’m f’n cheap” and I love hockey too much to treat it like a C-list prom date.

And let’s face it: most of the hockey sites on the web scream cheap. If you’re using YouTube to warehouse “your” video content, you’re a cheap bastard. And you’re stupid as well.

A few changes coming in 2008 for Bully that will enhance the site. I predict these changes will make it THE best site for hockey on the web. If it isn’t the best site on the web, who cares anyway.

1. We’re adding some advertisers. Nothing too heavy. Most will be hockey related. If you want to advertise on Bully, stay tuned.

2. The podcast will make a strong comeback, due to demand.

3. Hockey Science Theatre 2000. This stuff we cooked up is way out of line.

4. NHL handicapping. I offer picks on NHL games daily to friends and family. Have for a long time. So far this year I am picking 87 percent winners in the NHL. It has taken me a long time to figure out a system, and this year it is working well. With this percentage I feel comfortable offering picks to Bully faithful. Hell, I might even end up owning a team based on this formula.

5. Bully will be a free site once again. Subscriptions — like we offer now — will be available for premiere members who want to have access to NHL handicapping picks. We’ll keep it at $9 a month like it is for that and access to enhanced video content. Members will also ONLY have access to the video clip library. Yeah, if our clips were complete crap like what is on YouTube, they would be free too, but they’re not crap so ….

6. Because Bully will be a free site for daily clips, even “free” members will have to sign up to access clips. A username and password will be assigned. Once the day is over, those clips will be archived in the member’s only area with the 3,700+ other current clips.

7. Bully e-mail newsletter for members, including exclusive offers for members.

8. Bully web forum. Sign on and talk it up.

Well, I guess I better get busy. I have some work to do.
