From 3rd to 10th in 3 weeks

On Dec. 1, I wrote a blog entry called Serious Slide.

At the time the Flyers sat 3rd in the Eastern Conference, 1st in the Atlantic Division and I said they were on their way to a serious slide. I have talked to Philly media types who claimed I was smoking banana peels for making such a statement.

Three weeks later, the Flyers sit 10th in the division and 2 spots out of a playoff seed and 4th or last in the conference (what the hell is the difference between 4th and last anyway?).

Not sure why those same media types aren’t asking the question: why? and writing about it for their readers … or talking about it for their viewers. There are some good reporters in Philly. I just think they are reluctant to be critical of the team when it is warranted. Usually, they get critical when it’s safe to do so … when there is no way for them to look bad. A slide is a slide. Where’s the honest coverage boys?

I do think much of it has to do with coaching as I have said. Media types again, think I am batty.

Ever think that perhaps I am right? You’re lucky I retired from the media. I’d own this market if I hadn’t.
