Stevens Gone, as Predicted
Bully Predicted Scott Stevens would retire from the New Jersey Devils weeks ago. I love how the mainstream media robots report these things like it’s a big fucking deal. Head injury, plus lockout, plus having to listen to your wife about hanging them up with no west coast road trip for a season all equate to an easy decision for Scotty to retire.
Well, he was a hell of a player and will be missed because sadly, the game has few remaining throw-back players in the NHL. The league is that watered down at this point where guys like Darcy Tucker and Bryan Marchment actually still are able to thrive for no apparent reason, except sweeping mediocrity.
There is hope on the horizon: Flames propsect Dion Phaneuf. He is a young player molded to play and hit like Stevens. Tough as nails.
He’d line up his own Mom if she were parked in the slot too long. Keep an eye on him.
