Long before I was “blogging,” I was writing as a paid, professional daily journalist for a very large newspaper. I “got out” because I realized I was the smartest guy in the building.

I have received a few emails from sports reporters who cover the Flyers and state that I couldn’t earn a living doing what they do. Here’s a new scoop, one that isn’t spoon fed to you (like your free pre-game meals) by the Flyers PR gobotos: I’ve already been a journalist and I was a pretty good news guy. I won a bucket of awards. That and $2 will get me a Septa ride. I was friendly with the sports guys in the newsroom but the knock on many of them was that they were lazy. But credit them: they could drink. Too often though, they would write (or eat) whatever they are fed by the team flacks. If they are fed BS, they write it all the same.

I never played that game. If I wasn’t pissing someone off with honesty, I wasn’t doing my job.

You guys that cover the Flyers are LAZY. You’re living fat off the Flyers corporate nipple. It’s time to wake up.

The Flyers signed three minor league prospects yesterday and it gets ink? WHO FRIGGIN’ CARES ABOUT THESE THREE STOOGES? No One. Let me help you clowns out for relevant story ideas, not generated by the Flyers Spin Machine:

1. This team can’t put two wins together. Why?

2. John Stevens. Not ready for prime time. Look at the numbers boys. Worst coach in the last decade in Philly.

3. Briere. $11 million this year. He ranks 829th out of 834 players in the NHL in +/- …

4. There is a recession (though you eat for free… others do not.) The Flyers had 22 wins last year and have done squat this year. But they are raising ticket prices. Huh? Some tickets have been jacked 200%. Just select seats. Why?

5.  Flyers lose the most man hours to injury in the NHL … 8 years running now? Gee, maybe there’s a reason. It’s not just a coincidence.

6. Flyers customer service folks in the season ticket office operate/act like rude assholes. STH are treated like cattle. Helen Keller could find a news lead on this. Many pissed off folks out there.

7. Who made the decision to put Gagne back on the ice before he was medically ready to play? Why does that person(s) still have a job?

8. Why isn’t Ed Snider ever called on the carpet about the last 33 years of failed seasons, or for that matter, ever called on the carpet for anything? You scared of this guy? What’s he going to do, beat you with his checkbook? Toughen up, you sissies. Guys like Snider own you until you tell him he’s on the hot seat until YOU decide to take him off. You wimps afraid of some old guy who raises his voice? The last thing he hit was the ATM machine.

9. Why hasn’t Holmgren fired Stevens? Lou L. in NJ would have let Stevens go months ago … Lou L. wins cups. The Flyers do not.

10. Read this blog or fan sites for additional stories you continue to ignore.
