Any other guy and any other team and Gretzky would be fired in a couple weeks.

His Coyotes sit 12th in the west and will end up either in 12th or 13th when the smoke clears.

2005-06: 81 points; no playoffs
2006-07: 67 points; no playoffs
2007-08: 78 points so far; no playoffs

Overall record thus far: Well below .500

Couple this with the fact that his former-and-now-again current assistant coach Rick Tocchet was busted for operating as an illegal sports book and Wayne’s wife was allegedly involved in placing bets on sports through Tocchet,  yet nothing much happened to Gretzky nor was he properly investigated, and I think this adds to the overall disappointment of what certain folks envisioned Gretzky would do as a coach.

Still think he can coach? He benched Jeremy Roenick and almost rode him into retirement. Seems J.R. has been pretty solid this season for the Sharks, netting 12 game winners among other benefits he has provided to the team.

I said it 3 years ago and it sticks: Gretzky can’t coach.

I just never thought his hair style would end up as bad as his wins/losses record.
