Penguins, Crosby Tank Season Finale

I know many folks who trekked to Philly today to see Crosby play but he was a healthy scratch and never even dressed for warm ups in a game the Penguins supposedly wanted to win.

I watched all three feeds today of that game: FSP, TSN in Canada and CSN and give credit to the TSN analysts who openly said the Pens were tanking the game so they would not have to face the Flyers in a physical first round match up.

Credit again to reporters in Philly who asked Pens after the game if they ere intimidated by the Flyers. The questions seemed to piss off guys like Ryan Malone but isn’t that what you need to do at times as a reporter. You could tell a number of Pens players were pissed that Crosby was scratched.

Since the Pens tanked the game, they now face the Senators and not the Flyers.

Hey coach: you can’t keep that prom queen locked up for long, eh? There’s nowhere to run or hide in a few days when the playoffs start.

Credit to the Flyers whom I have been tough on all year. They made the playoffs and maybe they can make some noise. Hopefully they can keep rolling so that some of that noise is on Crosby’s chin in a round or two.

I have been a Crosby supporter for a long time, but today, it’s not possible to defend him. I know one thing for sure. Ovechkin would have laced em’ up against the Flyers today if he were in Crosby’s skates. And that is the difference between a real hockey player and a prima donna. Real hockey players want to play … always. Even when there’s an ass-whooping waiting for them.

It’s also entertaining to see that in every city Crosby plays in, he’s treated like a god. Except Philly. He’s hated in Philly and with moves like today, that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

Yes, the kid has talent galore. He is a little short on maturity though and he’s very easy to frustrate. A skilled agitator could send him over the edge quickly. In a playoff series an agitator could own him … or perhaps should I say will own him.
