John LeClair scores OT goal against Flyers to lead the Penguins to the next round of the playoffs and crushes the Flyers cup quest for another season. That was the bad dream I had last night. Or was it Recchi scoring the OT goal for the Pens?

Going to be strange on 10/14/05 to see LeCalir and Recchi wearing Penguins sweaters and playing in Philadelphia. Have to believe these guys will get a resounding welcome when they come back into the Soon-to-be renamed Bank Building in Philly. Likely a stupid move letting Recchi walk but LeClair is understandable. Still, it’s bittersweet. One can’t help but wonder if Mario, Sidney, Recchi, Sergei and the Pens eclipse the Flyers this post season and really do it for Johnny …

If you were a LA Kings fan or a Hurricanes fan, you’d dismiss such thoughts as bad scripting. But in Philly, bad scripting is often described best as reality and therefore such premonitions become part of the daily fabric of a fan’s life here. Red Wings fans have octipi: Devils fans have tolls; we in Philly have fear and loathing.

These guys did it for Johnny. Can the Pens do the same?
