Penguins: From bad to good to worse news …
Penguins: From bad to good to worse news … and all in about 15 hours. Talk about a blueprint for instability of a professional sports team.
1. Ziggy Palfy, your team’s 2nd leading scorer, announces his retirement in a foreign newspaper.
2. Six month too late, the Penguins acquire tough guy Eric Cairns.
3. Your hometome daily paper the Post-Gazette gets wind that Mario is selling the Penguins. Mario reluctantly confirms the news tip and the Penguins are officially for sale.
4. Now that Ziggy’s gone, GM Craig Patrick announces that Marc Andre-Fleury will stay with the club the rest o the season. (That will quiet the angry fans, eh?)
5. Mario announces he will step down as Penguins president but remain chairman of the board, or something like that. Who knows what the hell Mario does these days anyway besides fill his pill container.
And all of this happens in about 15 hours on Wednesday. Crosby would look a whole lot better somewhere else about now.
Good luck against the Rangers tonight, Pens …
