Even Esche Agrees With Bully …
Though I think he might have shot himself in the foot. When you think Flyers and Goaltending, the word weird comes to mind more often than not. Parent and Lindbergh are the only goalies preventing the Flyers from being considered a circus act between the pipes. Most of the Flyers goalies have been crackpots in one way or another …

Dude I know we’re both Philly guys, and, as such, hate the Devils. But I wanted to know what you think about Cam Janssen, cause for some odd reason I really like his style. E-mail me and let me know what you (or anyone else who sees this) thinks. Thanks.

I think Janssen is great. I said this in the first Bullycast we did that this guy was going to be solid and there is another maniac in the Devils farm name Mike Sgroi that played with Cam in Albany. Sgroi makes Janssen look like a training film.
Overall, too bad Cam is with the Devils. They have never appreciated tough guys as a franchise. I doubt Sgroi makes it to the NHL as a Devil, especially since he was recently traded to the Syracuse Crunch (Devs don’t appreciate tough guys). He made it as a Penguin and was fun to watch. And no, Ken Daneyko is not a tough guy … and neither was Stevens. More of a great hitter than fighter, Stevens was. Only in New Jersey could Daneyko have his number retired. What a joke. Whose next? Scott Clemenson. So please don’t anyone bellyache that the Devils have a long standing tradition of tough guys. They don’t. Randy McKay was solid but who else? Oliwa, yes but they dumped him twice (enter the lack of appreciation).

Janssens turns himself fully sideways so a lot of punches hit his helmet. I haven’t seen his helmet come off yet (in the NHL). That helps. He keeps his chucking arm (right) fully extended. This means it’s hard for the other guy to tie down his throwing arm. They can grab jersey, but the arm is too far out of reach. Bing, uppercut! He also puts on a great show with that berzerker-like stamina act. All that huffing and snorting … like Hacksaw Jim Duggan on skates. But the key is, lots of stamina.
I wonder two things: How would he do against a guy who can go forever like Langdon or Fedoruk? Had a great fight with Asham earlier this season. And what happens when he faces a lefty like Brashear? I haven’t seen Jannsens fight left-handed yet. Could end in disaster.
