Right Where they left off in April …

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Well, after a couple weeks of camp and 1-5-0 preseason record, the Flyers actually look worse than they did last season when Buffalo drove a stake through what was left of the team’c collective heart.
I was at the game again tonight. Boy, this team looks like it would have a hard time against some better […]

No fights? No Problem as Fans Entertain themselves …

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

Was at the game last night, Flyers vs Senators. No fights. No hitting. I know I sound like a broken record. The Flyers broke in their new huge-ass jumbo tron by showing a collage of beatdowns of yesteryear and the place went wild. Something the league just refuses to get: paying fans like tough hockey.

Props […]

Esche = Good back Up

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Esche will make a good back up goalie to Nitty this season.
He will not be a starter when the puck drops in October.

OLN cans Woody Woodpecker

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Last week Jim Jackson was awarded his seventh local Emmy for Flyer broadcasts.
Geez, either he has some serious dirt on the judges or they work for the Isle’s Charles Wang. Seven Emmies for a guy that sounds like Woody Woodpecker… Jackson just plain stinks.
Tim Panananananancio — or whoever his name is — in the Inquirer […]

Real World Tough … not that of wimpy millionaire athletes

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

Just read in the Philly Inq. some dumb ass headline and column that said “Primeau faces tough road ahead.”
Where do these Poindexters come up with this nonsense?
You want to see a local guy with a tough road ahead? Do a story on this Philly boy. He is real world tough.
Now, you’ll have to write about […]

All choked up and every place to go …

Thursday, September 14th, 2006

They should have press conferences for long time season ticket holders that “retire.” This would make more sense and offer better entertainment. Ask the same questions to the folks that have been footing the bills for years.
Kind of sick of seeing athletes today choked up about having to retire … so worried about the future. […]

Cold Feet in Vancouver = Wallet Smackdown

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

From what I’m hearing, Clarke had a nice trade worked out that included Naslund, Kesler and a draft pick from Vancouver for Gagne, but that deal was yanked by the Vancouver GM Dave Nonis after verbally telling Clarke it was a go.
What happened next? Clarke signed Gagne and put an offer sheet in on Kesler […]

We’re not with stupid graphic artist

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

I mean Bully has slapped together some discount graphics in his day but never as cheezy as what I saw in the Vancouver Sun today. A doctored photo depicting Isles owner Charles Wang and Flyers GM Bobby Clarke.
Did a 3rd grader make this?

The “artist” that made this is Grant McKenzie. Yo Grant, ah, I don’t […]

Everybody Wang Chung Tonight

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

When I Googled Wang Chung to make sure I spelled the group’s name right, I noticed they have a single called “Wake Up, Stop Dreaming.” (I swear I did not know this prior to the Googling).
But the title of that song fits the bill perfectly in this case.
So NY Islanders owner Charles “The Punch Does […]

Well… things change on a dime?

Monday, September 11th, 2006

I just got 2 calls from people in the know saying Gagne will be inked by midnight to a 5 year deal for the Flyers.
We’ll know more soon. Likely, the info is solid.
